Domaine de la Cras is a 160 hectare property located just outside of the city of Dijon. In 2013, the city purchased the site and put out a tender to find a young, energised and experienced winemaker who would farm the plot organically and act as custodian to the city's new acquisition.
 
It was Marc Soyard who was chosen. He had experience making wine at some of the great Domaines, most notably the famed Domaine Bizot in Vosne Romanée where he worked for six years, both in the vineyard and in the cellar alongside Jean-Yves Bizot, before launching this operation.
 
He makes wine with the same philosophy used at Bizot - a more natural approach utilising plenty of whole bunch and wild ferments.
 
Cras Blanc 2017 is a 100% chardonnay. On the nose it boasts lovely complexity, with notes of citrus and brioche; on the plate: intense, rich and mineralesque, with fabulous length. An ambitious cuvée!
 
Domaine de la Cras is the only producer of wine allowed the Coteaux de Dijion designation.
