Charles Lachaux Bourgogne Aligoté Les Champs d'Argent 2018

This is an exciting and very unique Aligoté from a small parcel named Les Champs d´Argent with vines planted back in the 1930s. 100% whole-bunch pressed and fermented with indigenous yeass with 10 months elevage in old barrels have given this light wine a delicate, fresh and precise taste: On the nose, you can smell yellow apples and riped citrus fruits. It's crispy with the right acidity and also massed of flavor intensity.

It is a unique Aligote, which was the wine that got Charles Lachaux to start his own domain:

This négoce project began in the image of Domaine d’Auvenay ‘s Aligoté Sous Chatelet - possibly the most intense and pure expression of the variety made by the legendary Lalou Bize- Leroy. Charles Lachaux has always admired the wine and wanted to challenge himself to produce something as thought-provoking as possible.

In recent years, Charles took initiative to produce a wine from the Aligoté vines, arching of the canes (a technique pioneered by Lalou bize-Leroy) was adopted to reduce yield in order to produce more concentrated, terroir-reflective berries.

As Charles is also in charge of Domaine Arnaud-Lachaux, he wanted to separate this new direction from the classic offerings. A négociant project was launched for the 2018 vintage and the range include the Aligoté (family vines) and Volnay, Pommard, Gevrey-Chambertin that are sourced from friends of his who farmed small plots organically in those appellations.
